Walk a Mile in My Shoes

Many do not understand the plight that our homeless face each day. There are many obstacles that are hard for us to understand, without being in their shoes.  In August, Interfaith is hosting a walk of awareness for the homeless, that will literally put participants in their shoes.

Because many homeless have no choice but to wear shoes that are not the right size, that are uncomfortable or worn beyond repair, simply walking through the heat each day is a challenge. On August 26th, participants in Walk a Mile in My Shoes will be asked to remove their own shoes and select from shoes donated to Interfaith, carrying their shoes in a bag.  Registration will be at 9am.  The walk will begin at 10am at the Ivy House and Brick City Church parking lot, located at 917 E Silver Springs Blvd., and will continue west for one mile to the Interfaith Center for Life at 108 N Pine Avenue, in Ocala.

Parking will be available at both locations and a shuttle will be provided.  Participants are asked to recruit sponsorships of $250 or more to support the homeless ministry of Interfaith, that serves women, children and families in need 365 days a year.  Our goal is to have at least 100 walkers provide sponsorships of $250 each.  To sponsor a walker or make a donation, please click HERE

The walker that raises the most money in excess of $250, will receive a brand new kayak! For more information about joining the walk, or volunteering, please contact Karla at 352-209-7045.  A participation form can be found here.
