Giving Tuesday - Giving Hope

The world is full of commercialism this time of year, and one event seems to lead straight into the other. Halloween. Thanksgiving. Black Friday. Cyber Monday. But STOP! There’s something new on the horizon that’s dedicated to giving to others! Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving to those in need. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

Sunrise Breakfast on the Green

Sunrise BreakfastMany years ago a group of men got together to share their faith and pray together around a campfire.  That event grew to what has become one of Ocala’s best-loved gatherings, The Men’s Campfire Breakfast on the Ocklawaha River.  At some point along the way someone decided to pass a hat and donate the money to help Interfaith minister to the less fortunate. Today, everyone is invited to attend this annual year-end event for Interfaith.  This year's event will be held December 15, 7am - 9am, breakfast served at 7:30am.

Although the location has moved a few times over the years, our choice to be at the Ocala Golf Club is an opportunity for more folks to attend without driving out of town. We’ll trade the beauty of last year’s venue, Lake Weir at Gator Joe’s, for the manicured lawns of the beloved Ocala ‘muni’ course.  The Ocala Golf Course is located at 3130 East Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala.  Parking is available at the clubhouse.  We’ll still have the campfire burning while we enjoy a beautiful sunrise together to celebrate God and community.  It’s time for everyone to come together in the spirit of Christmas and be reminded of what makes this community so special.

The Sunrise Breakfast serves as Interfaith’s year-end giving campaign to help meet our budgeting needs.  Serving 30,000 people a year in Marion County takes a lot of resources and many partnerships with our beloved donors.  Being 100% donation based, Interfaith relies on the support of individuals, businesses, clubs and organizations to help those in need in our community.

We are asking that you please RSVP for the event.  This will help make sure we have enough food for everyone.  And speaking of food, Ocala Golf Club is catering this year and providing a wonderful, hardy breakfast!

RSVP BY PHONE: Sonya at 352-629-8868 or Karla at 352-209-7045.

EMAIL:  Karla     or        SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook page

If you can’t attend please consider sending your donation to Interfaith at P.O. Box 992, Ocala, Florida, 34478, or making an online donation here.  There is no charge for breakfast but donations are appreciated. Please consider what you can do to help the ministry of Interfaith.  The donation jars will be available.  If you bring a check, please make it payable to “Interfaith Emergency Services.”  If you would like to take a tour of Interfaith or find out about volunteering, a booth will be available at the event.

Interfaith wants to sincerely thank everyone, both past and present, who have made this gathering such a success.  We are grateful for the love of our community and appreciate the opportunity we are given to help those in need.  God bless you all.
